The galaxy of Elite: Dangerous is a place of rampant capitalism and conflict. Spacecraft are extremely common, and all are armed in a vain attempt to deter piracy and aggression. The three great intergalactic powers: the Alliance, Empire and Federation, cannot control the boundless territories they possess, and skirmishes and outright war wrack the human-controlled galaxy on a daily basis.
Despite the conflict, there is plenty of money to be made – a fortune in trade goods and rare minerals are shipped across the galaxy every day. Explorers of distant stars can earn millions of credits from a single lucky find, and the wealthy will pay much to see the wonders of the galaxy aboard luxury liners where their every whim is catered for.
You are a commander for one of the great powers. A number of star systems have been contested by your opponent. Billions of credits are at risk, so your employer has offered you the services of warships, bounty hunters, entrepreneurs and pirates to prise out your rival. You will need many types of ship; combat fighters, battlecruisers, trading hulks and long-range explorers, to have any chance of countering your enemy’s devious strategies. Good luck, commander – the winner of this conflict will be showered in glory, and rich beyond their wildest dreams. What happens to the losers is best not dwelt on…
